On Saturday August 18th, 2018 the Cuddebcakville FD was dispatched to the Oakland Valley campground for a reported river rescue of a 9 yr old male and a 45 yr old male. Upon arrival a request for the Battalion 8 water rescue team to the scene, which includes the response of Huguenot, Sparrowbush, Port Jervis, Matamoras, and Westfall Fire Departments. Additional requests for Cronomer Valley, Westbrookville, Johnson, Lumberland, Rock Hill, Dingmans Ferry and Monroe fire departments for boats, ATV/UTV's manpower to the scene and Otisville with an engine and manpower for stand by duty. Search of the Neversink River continued throughout the day until weather caused all operations to stop. Operations picked back up when the weather cleared and ceased due to darkness. On Sunday operations continued all day into the night until operations were ceased again around 7 pm due to darkness. On Monday Aug 20th, river operations continued, the search area was from the Oakland Valley Campground south to the area of Myers Grove, where both bodies were found and recovered.
